Our School Council is a student body of two children from every year group, who their fellow peers nominate. The nominees work on preparing a speech to persuade their peers as to why they are fit for the role, and a vote is then taken, falling in line with our British Values and creating a democratic ethos.
The School Council meets once a week. Using ideas from the rest of the school, they pick one project each term to work on, focusing on either an improvement or enrichment project for the school, local community or an environmental project. The children work together to create action plans, delegate jobs, run whole school assemblies and hold meetings to get their project up and running!
A few examples of our past projects featured within our latest news are the Wandsworth Prep Recycling Project’ where we worked with the local council to evaluate our rubbish and recycling, ‘Switch Off Fortnight’ in collaboration with EDF Energy, focused on saving energy, working with Wandsworth Age UK making Christmas cards and singing carols at Gwynneth Morgan day centre and WPS Walk to School Week. The whole school’s collaboration with these projects gives every child an equal opportunity to get involved and creates an inclusive and nurturing school community.
