Bringing the school community together has always been extremely important at Wandsworth Prep and the inaugural Speech Day was a wonderful example of this.
It also gave us a chance, not only to say goodbye and good luck to our Year 6 leavers, but more importantly, celebrate all their hard work and success.
This is the first time we have been able to make Speech Day a whole school event and were delighted to be able to hold the event in St Anne’s Church, a beautiful space in our local community.
Each year group celebrated their achievements with a short speech from class teachers, a photo montage and certificates for all the children. However, the main focus was on the Year 6 leavers, each of whom delivered a heartfelt speech. Some of the children added a touch of humour, others went for the tear jerking memories, but all the speeches were wonderfully written and poignantly delivered.
Speech Day was rounded off with some whole school songs, including a dedicated number to our leaving headteacher, Miss Jo.
As with all our leavers, it is never goodbye, it’s see you soon!
