As we approach the October half term, I’d like to reflect not only on what a brilliant start to the school year we have had, but also on my first six weeks as Head. From my first visit to Wandsworth Prep, it is evident how much the children enjoy learning within our creative and vibrant environment. Over the last half term, I have seen the children continue to thrive as they have been provided with expectational learning opportunities that have provided stretch and challenge for our pupils.
It has been wonderful to see how much the children have enjoyed meeting the visitors that have enhanced our topics. Year 1 had the opportunity to meet with Lyra the well-being/learning dog, while year 4s had a real-life Viking come to share his knowledge and expertise on Viking life in Britain. We also began our new project ‘Beat, Band, Boogie’ workshop focusing on introducing children to simple percussion and drumming skills. Amongst so much more we had our annual Wandsworth Prep Poetry Cafe, which was put together with a joint effort from staff, parents and pupils, who were both writing and performing poetry.
Each child’s love for learning at our school has brought me so much joy and I cannot wait for the children to continuously surprise me as they continue to shine.
After such a successful half-term, all I can say is that I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved break.
I can’t wait to see you all on our return.
Kind regards,
Mrs Nike
