Nothing compares to live music, especially when that music is prepared by the hardworking and talented pupils at Wandsworth Prep School! Live performance is an excellent way for young musicians to showcase their progress, build confidence, and inspire each other to continue their musical learning.
The Summer Instrumental Concert featured fantastic performances by young vocalists, pianists, ukulele players, a guitarist, a flautist, and the Wandsworth Prep School Choir. The courage and tenacity demonstrated by the pupils who gave performances inspired everyone, and it was clear to see the many benefits of learning to sing or play an instrument.
Toward the end of the concert, the audience was treated to a special performance by former WPS student and Eton music scholar, Tony Hua. He inspired every listener with a moving violin performance followed by a rousing piano etude, complete with a cadenza that Tony composed himself. What an excellent example of what children can achieve in a few short years when they put their mind to the task!
A massive well done goes to all of the pupils who performed at the concert. Thank you for sharing your musical talents! Additionally, thank you to all of the parents who encourage their children’s musical pursuits, and to the peripatetic teachers who instruct and support the children in their weekly lessons.
It’s not too late to sign up for instrumental or vocal lessons in the upcoming school year! As the choir encouraged us in the concert, “Try Everything” – especially taking singing or instrumental lessons.
