Taking learning outside the classroom is an essential part of education. Inspiring the children through school trips, visiting speakers and active and engaging workshops really supports understanding and helps create a lasting love of learning.
Therefore, to bring together their wonderful learning in an engaging and inspiring way and to help embed all their newly acquired skills and knowledge, the Reception class took a tip on an open top bus tour all around central London. Paddington Bear, eat your heart out!
The children were so excited to see all of the sights they had learnt about: Piccadilly Circus, Westminster Abbey, The London Eye, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and many many more. It was a joy to see their genuine interest in everything they saw. Luckily for us the weather was on our side, so once the tour had finished, we walked to Buckingham Palace and had a picnic in St James’ Park. We had a wonderful day, full of sight seeing, surprises and sunshine. Although much to our disappointment we didn’t bump into Paddington Bear, but it only seems fitting to end in the words of the very famous bear himself, ”In London everyone is different, and that means everyone can fit in” A bit like our Reception class really!
Well done Reception for representing Wandsworth Prep so beautifully when out and about in the capital. What a project and what a trip – a fantastic way to round off our wonderful year together in Reception.
