Here at Wandsworth Prep we provide opportunities for the children to develop into confident speakers. We carry out many activities to nurture this such as a poetry cafe, world book day, showcases, LAMDA drama classes, enterprise sales, productions, open mornings with children giving tours and home learning project presentations. Each child’s journey starts in reception when they present for the first time to the parents during the whole class showcase. We put a big emphasis on public speaking and presenting and the results are evident when you talk to our children!
In year 6 there are a series of public speaking workshops in the first term of year 6. They also have a trip to Google offices with job style interviews being a focus of the trip. We then have interview prep workshops both one on one and group interviews. We also run mock interviews with Bellevue Education directors who provide feedback and development points.
Finally, we also share prep questions with families so that the children can prepare at home too.
All this preparation throughout their school journey means that we also get a lot of positive feedback from secondary school registrars on our children’s performance at interviews and any subsequent feedback is used for future improvements.
